The Executive Director, Micro Enterprises, Bank of Industry, Mrs. Toyin Adeniji, has said the Federal Government has given loans to 400,000 operators of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises operators across the country.
Adeniji, who said this on Thursday in Osogbo at the launch of the Small and Medium Enterprise Clinic and Government Enterprise Empowerment Programme, added that the Federal Government’s target was to give out loans to one million small-scale business owners.
She said, “Osun State has done us proud. Osun State has been very receptive. We have distributed 14,000 loans to beneficiaries in the State and between yesteryear and today, we have given out 3,000 loans.
“We have given out 400,000 loans all over the country and our target is one million loans. The programme is free, you don’t need to pay money to anybody before you benefit from it. The loan is interest-free and it is payable over six months.”
Adeniji lauded the Osun State Government for being receptive to the programme, saying the state had done the BOI proud.
The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), who was present at the launch said every Nigerian could prosper because there were enough resources to go round in the country if properly managed.
According to him, with an honest leadership in place, Nigeria can become one of the truly developed nations in the world.
He said the administration would not steal the commonwealth of the Nation and would do everything to make the masses happy.
Osinbajo said his political party, the All Progressives Congress, had said repeatedly that there would be money to execute developmental projects if the Nation’s leadership was honest. Osinbajo said the people of Osun State and other Nigerians had started seeing the impact of good leadership in many areas.
He said, “We won’t steal, we have not stolen, we are not thieves. This is a government that loves the masses and we will do everything that the masses want.
“This country belongs to all of us and all of us can prosper. There is enough to go round in Nigeria and we are confident that we will take Nigeria from where it is currently to where it truly belongs.”
He said that the Federal Government is committed to ensuring that doing business in the country is easy in order to encourage the influx of more investors into Nigeria.
Osun State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola, in his speech, urged people who willing to work and earn a living to key into the laudable programme.
