The Best New Car Releases For 2021

With 2021 nearly upon us, we can really start getting excited about the new models arriving in Jardine showrooms in the new year. As far as we’re concerned, the outlook on new cars for 2021 is looking very enticing indeed, with numerous highly anticipated models coming from our best-loved manufacturers.

With the automotive landscape changing, it’s no surprise to see that many of the models mentioned below are set to be some of the best new electric cars for 2021 in the UK. With so many headline models coming in the next 12 months, we’ve whittled it down to five names that we think are the new cars coming out in 2021 that everyone should know about.

AUDI Q5 SPORTBACK

It’s a busy year ahead for Audi and certainly an exciting one for fans of the brand. Several 2021 editions of established favourites are coming to the fore including the revamped A4 and A5, the Q3 and the all-new TT. Our pick for the year from the Audi family sees us head over to the incredibly popular crossover market and the expected release of the Audi Q5 Sportback.

Already at the pinnacle of the affordable crossover market thanks to its ability to combine SUV practicality with the sleek, stylish lines of a typical Audi coupe, the big news for the Q5 Sportback of 2021 is the arrival of two hybrid engine variants to complement the 2.0 litre, 201bhp option. On sale in early 2021, expect the hybrid options to arrive a little later in the year.

BMW M4 COMPETITION

Like Audi, BMW has plenty to talk about this year. The 4 Series Convertible is a more classically styled arrival to contrast with the much-anticipated flow of electric vehicles coming from the legendary German manufacturer – not least the electric ‘i’ versions of the X5 and X3, but also the stunning i4 concept, BMW’s first all-electric grand coupe.

While news of the Concept i4 keeps us on tenterhooks, its sportier, petrol-powered cousin, the M4 Competition saloon offers a new design twist on the much-loved M4 model and will arrive shortly after the release of a new M3. With 503bhp, a 3.0 litre, straight-six engine and optional four-wheel drive on the top-end spec, the M4 will be thrown directly into competition with the similarly spectacular Audi RS 5.

It’s hard to imagine going too far wrong with either of these two performance gems, but the M4 Competition is likely to be one of the more hotly anticipated new cars for 2021 in the UK.

MERCEDES EQA

Bound to be a highly sought-after addition to the crossover market, the Mercedes EQA is built along the same lines as the incredibly stylish, premium compact SUV – the Mercedes GLA. Two versions are expected, a single motor front-wheel-drive option and a double motor four-wheel drive.

Upon its arrival, the EQA will be the only premium all-electric option in the compact crossover segment, making it one of the standout 2021 new car models for more reasons than just the three-pronged star on the grille.

TOYOTA PROACE ELECTRIC

A change of pace here, but one we’re very much excited about at Jardine. Toyota’s biggest revelation in 2021 with being the arrival of multiple all-electric vans and people-carriers. The PROACE Electric is a medium-duty electric van, while the PROACE Verso Electric will offer large families a number of options featuring various body lengths.

Toyota revealed earlier this year that the PROACE Electric van will come with a 15-year, one million km battery, making it a serious prospect in the trade auto realm and an extremely strong rival to many of the recently released EV vans. Expect to hear more from us and Toyota about this highly significant release.

So, plenty to look forward to in the Jardine catalogue this coming year, with some of the best new cars for 2021 coming from the likes of Audi, BMW and more. Featuring a mix of performance roadsters with fresh aesthetics and electric takes on some extremely desirable models, keep an eye out on the stream of new cars coming out in 2021 at Jardine Motors.
