Courteville FC give Rave TV nothing to rave about (They Came… We Saw… We Conquered)

The Courteville Football Club players were determined to put an end to their embarrassing run of form when they played hosts to Rave TV on Saturday 12th August, 2017. Prior to this game, Courteville FC had been involved in 5 official games with 1 win, 2 draws and 2 losses. The only victory for the team if it is to be any consolation was won a couple of weeks back.

Back to the story at hand, Rave TV which was commissioned in August of 2014, is owned by Agatha Amata, the host of popular television program “Inside Out”. The Ilupeju Lagos based TV station agreed to a friendly match with your go to e-business solutions company (Courteville). The game which was played on the pitch of Command Children School in An’s Barracks Yaba kicked off at 9.15am on the day with the visitors kicking off the game from left to right.

Both teams were all over the place in search of a break through and at some point it looked like Rave TV wanted the goal more. Courteville FC however could not afford to lose this game and with their number one fan, supporter and sponsor, who is also the Group Managing Director of Courteville Business Solutions Plc, Dr. Bola Akindele in the stands and a host of other staff members, even a draw was not negotiable. Not that the team didn’t receive support in the past but this particular game was looking like the final straw.

Rave TV broke Courteville hearts with a well-taken goal by their striker Ola. The Courteville defence must have napped a little in the build up to that goal but it must be said the Courteville team didn’t take chances upfront. The desired equalizer however came for Courteville via a deserved spot kick which was well taken by the captain of the team Ehis. The two sides kept pushing for an advantage in score line but nothing was forthcoming. The first half ended 1 apiece.

The second half saw the introduction of new faces from the Courteville FC bench, with a striker brought on along with a midfielder. The change wasn’t looking like it will pay off until Courteville was awarded a free-kick in a dangerous spot. Maruf took the set piece for the Courteville team and the kick was on target with Rave TV goalkeeper punching the ball out but an alert Courteville striker (Dipo) was quick to latch on to ball to give Courteville the lead. The game wore on and if possession were goals Rave TV would have been worthy winners but the sturdy Courteville defence and goalkeeper must take all the credit for shutting all threats to goal out.

Courteville apparently scored a third goal which wasn’t counted because it was scored just as the referee blew the final whistle. Final score 2-1 in favour of Courteville FC.

Congratulations Courteville FC….……….. Many more victories to come. Courteville FC AWUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU !!!!
