TECHPOINT BUILD ALUMNUS, FOODLOCKER AND 15 OTHER STARTUPS JOIN THE UM6P ACCELERATOR IN MOROCCO

In June, the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) launched IMPULSE, a startup accelerator programme in Morocco. Partnering with MassChallenge, a global zero-equity startup accelerator, entrepreneurs in the fields of agritech, biotech, nanotech, and mining tech were asked to apply to access connections from OCP Group, its subsidiary OCP Africa, and UM6P.

From three continents and nine countries, sixteen startups will participate in an intensive 12-week-long programme in Morocco with study trips to the US and Switzerland. During the boot-camp, they will have to work directly with OCP while competing for $250,000 worth of equity free prizes.

Just recently, the accelerator announced that it has accepted the 16 startups out of 350 applications received from more than 40 countries. Among these startups is Techpoint Build alumnus, Foodlocker and popular agritech startup, Farmcrowdy.

Founded in 2017, Foodlocker started as a foodstuff and grocery startup that aggregates the outputs of smallholder farmers and FMCGs, then sells to large buyers. In January this year, the startup finished runner-up in the Pitch Storm segment of  Techpoint Build: Building for the next billion users event.

These 16 startups will have access to financing, UM6P’s infrastructure and laboratories, and co-working space as the acceleration programme begins on January 15, 2020 and ends on April 8, 2020.
