Being an entrepreneur or always thinking as one has always been like a mantra for our GMD, Dr. Adebola Akindele and he never fails to preach this at every opportunity he gets. He smiled like a proud dad watching his children make it in life when the idea of a 3-day Skill Acquisition Program was pitched to him by one of the staff. In my humble and honest opinion it is a very great initiative and with two editions (March and November, 2016) in the bag already it has been embedded into the organization’s CSR policy as a bi-annual program.
The 3-day Skill Acquisition Program is a purely staff based initiative with about 13 Courteville staff serving as trainers with knowledge shared in various fields such as Photography, Drinks making, Tailoring, Beads making, Grills and Small Chops, Soap making just to mention a few. And in comparison to the maiden edition, the second session which held in November had a larger turn out which goes to show that this initiative needs to be continued and encouraged for extended growth.
As the Group Managing Director of Courteville Business Solutions Plc for today December 8, 2016, I am happy to be commissioning a new series in the light of this Skill Acquisition Program which has been tagged “Courteville Preneurs” where the trainers cum facilitators would be interviewed on a weekly basis on their passion for what they do when they are away from their regular jobs. It is always a joy to see people willing to share knowledge.
I think this initiative should continue because it will not just help reach out to people in terms of development but it will also aid self-development amongst the staff involved and ultimately bring more interested trainers in the long run. I am pleased to be part of an organization that places so much focus on staff development, little wonder why it was named 2nd Best at the Great Place to Work Awards in April, 2016.
I will like to encourage the staff involved not to rest on their laurels and hopefully more staff will join the bandwagon in this bid to serve humanity.
