STOCK MARKET REPORT FOR JANUARY 20TH, 2017

A total turnover of 1.340illion shares worth #8.903billion in 15,733 deals were traded this week by investors on the floor of the Exchange in contrast to a total of 9.041 million shares valued at 1.117 billion that exchanged hands last week in 16,482deals.

The Financial Services Industry (measured by volume) led the activity chart with 1.107 billion shares valued at #3.918 billion traded in 9,429 deals; thus contributing 82.56% and 44.01% to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively. The Conglomerates Industry followed with 82.353 million shares worth #82.353 million in 584 deals. The third place was occupied by Consumer Goods Industry with a turnover of 47.603 million shares worth #1.466 million in 2,463 deals.

Trading in the Top Three Equities namely – Fidelity Bank Plc, Continental Reinsurance Plc and Diamond Bank Plc (measured by volume) accounted for 550.669 million shares worth #576.849 million in 1,558 deals, contributing 41.08% and 6.48% to the total equity turnover volume and value respectively.
