JOURNEY OF A THOUSAND OF MILES

   THE ARTWORK

In commemoration of Nigeria’s 50th independence anniversary, Courteville unveiled an art work themed “Courteville- A journey of a thousand miles” which was designed by Gerald Chukwuma. The vision for the art work was indeed clear and was successfully depicted but like any artwork what I see  is slightly different. Hence, below are my interpretations of the art.

FEATURES IN THE ART WORK

Taking a closer look at the artwork one would see pictures of cars, computers, buildings, AutoReg stickers, the sun and people to mention a few. I see a system that tries to connect all these items and making it a global village.

THE GRIDS

The grids signifies different sectors of the economy. Courteville’s official colours are blue and beige, grids with either of these colours are sectors where Courteville have successfully deployed while others without the colours are those Courteville is yet to establish any form of presence.

THE PATH

Separating the grids are footpaths, these paths are neither symmetrical nor straight;this signifies Courteville’s journey through the years which was neither a smooth sail nor void of obstacles constantly attempting to end its operations (yet the company keeps forging ahead)

THE COLOURS

The art work constitute several colours e.g orange, blue, white, red etc. These colours are embedded in the grids, signifying several emotions & temperaments of customers in respective sectors and how Courteville has consistently strove to manage and satisfy them.

THE SHAPE

The artwork looks rectangular in shape with rough edges. A typical rectangle consist of 4 angles. In this  artwork, angles on the same plane are designed with clips of AutoReg stickers ( depicting the side of the market Courteville enjoys patronage) while the opposite plane are void of any AutoReg stickers (depicting our competitors side, where we have few/no customers). In between the two planes are grids representing various market sector.

Hence, the the rectangular shape represent a battle field while the opposite planes simply mean the regular face off (battle) between Courteville and its competitions to win the largest market share of the economy.

JIGSAW PUZZLE

The artwork also looks like a jigsaw puzzle waiting to be solved;  Courteville’s services and the AutoReg stickers were cut to represent  knobs connecting the missing areas. This signifies how our services are designed to proffer solutions to problems by identifying and closing up gaps and overlaps in the market.

THE WHIRLWIND SYMBOLS

The artwork contains several signs and symbols but the symbols of whirlwind painted in blue are prominent in it.  This signifies period of challenges and huddles Courteville had encountered since inception. Blue colour represents  calm and tranquility meaning after every huddle, Courteville always  end up victorious and forges ahead stronger.

THE TWINS

The art has a twin which hangs in the GMD’s house. Both art represents the actual journey because a part of the art is displayed at the reception of Courteville Business Solutions Plc signifying the efforts and hustle of both staff and Executives of the company in order to make profit and see the organization succeed.

The other half of the art which is displayed in a home; a  relaxed and happy haven. This  represents rewards, salary or incentives the organization give staff as take home at the end of the month, in appreciation of their efforts towards the success of the organization.

These take homes bring joy and enable staff purchase items that would make their lives and those of their loved ones easier. The Courteville journey may have started in the working environment but it always ends up bringing happiness in our homes.

In conclusion, the art depicts an ecosystems built around people and their needs; it depicts activities that brings ease and satisfaction to everyone while Courteville is on a constant move to fulfill its mission of touching the lives of everyone at one point or the other.
