THE JOURNEY OF A THOUSAND MILES BEGINS WITH A STEP
Life they say is in phases but amidst the different phases lies the woes and beauty of people and places. The art masterpiece of a journey of a thousand miles reflects the journey of life characterised by irregularities, uneven opportunities, ups and downs and uncertain destinations.
However, perspective varies; where there are uncertainties and bleak destinations the art still reflects the beauty in diversity, identifying opportunities where it seems there are none, making decisions to thread roads less taken and anticipation of what the future holds.
Taking a critical look at the masterpiece reflects the beauty of life which was gracefully depicted by the colours it bears. The size of the piece which is rather unusual reflects how broad life is but yet small in the sense that all dots can be connected to make ‘global’ connectedness.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a step and in the same vein the every great accomplishment begins with a decision to try. In other words, the first step is usually the most difficult because of contemplations, fear of the unknown, discouragements from friends and family, bleak expectations and the likes. But what makes the difference is the ability to see the big picture, to have a vision of what you desire from life. Before the art work got to its finished state; it started with a huge blank piece of wood in which every passer-by would simply conclude as a piece of junk or some wood to be used for furniture. Only the artist knew what he wanted to achieve because he has conceived a vision of the ‘big picture’.
The masterpiece inspires me to think big, to see the bigger picture in every situation that life brings before you. Like someone rightly said, “If life gives you an egg, make an omelet”. Whatever situation you find yourself, make the most of it.
