Monday the 24th of September, 2018 is a day that clearly would not be forgotten in a hurry and this can be credited to the Group Managing Director of our organization Courteville Business Solutions Plc Dr. Bola Akindele, who in his magnanimity was able to bring to the organization Nigeria’s King of Talk, Mr. Teju Babyface Oyelakin.
Mr. Oyelakin was at the Courteville Head Office on 38, Commercial Avenue Sabo Yaba, Lagos for a review of his widely acclaimed book Secret of the Streets: 23 Secrets for Achieving Success with Talent with the Courteville Book Club members and as the Guest Entrepreneur to also speak to the staff of Courteville on how he was able to get through life and transform from a comedian to being an Entrepreneur cum writer, mentor and a motivational speaker.
Teju was able to highlight a number of his low points after a maiden casting role in one of Nigeria’s biggest flicks of the 90s titled ‘Diamond Ring’ which was written, produced and directed by the veteran Tade Ogidan.
From unforthcoming movie roles, a desire to remain relevant in the Nigerian entertainment industry led Mr. Oyelakin to pursue comedy which was his big break back into the showbiz scene. After years of success in the league of extraordinary Nigerian comedians he was still barely regarded as a serious enough comedian by the industry. The motivation to continually remain relevant to people and himself led him to stay out of the comedy business for a while, and he holed himself up out of circulation for a while and birthed the idea of being a TV Host, then a motivational speaker while honing his skills as a writer leading to the release of ‘Secrets of the Streets’ mentioned earlier.
He is on the verge of releasing his 2nd book with release date set for some time in October, 2018 and a 3rd book is also in the works. Teju started the Guest Entrepreneur session here by saying “Where you started from is not where you are going” but it was when he ended with the same sentence that it really made sense to spellbound crowd who listened with rapt attention.
Babyface hit the right notes with his delivery in more ways than one and was deeply appreciated by all in attendance with chants of wanting a return of the King of Talk for another session.
